Interior Designers these days undoubtedly have the most challenging job in the world. I am comfortable making that statement today unlike any other time in history, the clients have more access to products than ever before.
The problem that faces designers these days is the marriage of aesthetic and comfort. Almost once a day, we at RFP receive a photo found on Pinterest or Instagram of a beautiful couch and our customers want that. The problem we explain is that the couch has been staged, digitally edited and all the inherent imperfections are unseen, furthermore, how do you even know if it’s comfortable.
We find that designers come to us asking questions like how does it sit? Do you think it’s going to be comfortable? and we always try to be as honest as possible. The customer picks what they want and when you have only seen it online, how do you know you will love it.
At RFP we understand the problem that faces designers these days, and our entire business is based around being reliable. How can we deliver the right looking piece and still ensure its going to meet the customer’s definition of comfort.
Our solution is the RFP moch up process, at our custom studio we implore our customers to review each detail of their piece. We provide an actual moch up unit which will consist of a small two foot piece. In that small piece we use the actual foam that will be delivered, coupled with stitch details and the actual fabric. This is one distinct protocol we have in place that really goes above and beyond to ensure the customers expectations have been met.
The moch up process allows the designers to have assurance that their piece has kept up with the design intent, at the same time allows the subjectivity of comfort to be controlled. We are here to help our designers every step of the way. Our product is furniture, our business is reliability.
